Marriage ceremonies across the Perth metro and in the Great Southern (Albany/Denmark), West Australia
Hello!
Weddings are deeply personal. I’m here to make sure yours feels like your love story is brought to life, reflecting your values, your people, and what you mean to each other.
I’m Megan Aitken, an authorised marriage celebrant. My mission is to keep the process calm and effortless: I’ll handle the paperwork; you make the memories.
Every couple has different needs. Whether you want something short and simple, a beautiful classic ceremony with your vows, or a fully custom bespoke script that’s uniquely you, I’ll help you create a meaningful ceremony you’ll remember forever.
My style is down-to-earth, intentional, and sincere. Together, we’ll craft a ceremony spoken from the heart.

Hi, I'm Megan
"I’m an authorised marriage celebrant with a grounded, down-to-earth style. I believe ceremonies should be genuine, meaningful and calm – spoken from the heart, never from a script you have heard a hundred times before. I'll guide you through every legal step and help you craft words that feel like you.
I’ll handle the paperwork; you make the memories."

FAQs'
How soon can I get married?
You’ll need to lodge a NOIM (Notice of Intended Marriage) form at least one calendar month before the actual ceremony (e.g. signed on 15 February for a 15 March wedding). You can sign it up to 18 months in advance.
Who can marry in Australia?
You must both be 18+, not in a prohibited relationship (e.g. direct ancestor/descendant or sibling), free to marry (not currently married; previous marriages must have ended by death or divorce) and give real consent (from both parties).
I am not Australian. Can I marry here?
Yes. You do not need to be an Australian citizen. Tourists and visitors are all welcome to marry in Australia.
Do I need to live in Australia to marry here?
No. There is no residency requirement to marry in Australia. West Australia is a wonderful place to elope to!
What documents will I need?
A valid passport is ideal; otherwise, an original birth certificate plus driver’s licence.
If previously married, evidence of how the marriage ended (death certificate or divorce certificate).
Bring these to our first appointment.
What is the step-by-step process?
1+ month before: We meet and sign your NOIM together. (Bring ID and, if relevant, divorce certificate or death certificate of a former spouse).
Then we’ll decide what sort of ceremony you want.
2-3 weeks before: Confirm ceremony details, witnesses and location.
Wedding Day: ceremony, sign documents - married!
Within 14 days: I lodge your paperwork with Birth Deaths & Marriages (BDM).
2-4 weeks later: Your Official Marriage Certificate is available from BDM.
What about witnesses?
You will need 2 witnesses who are aged 18+ and who understand English competently. If you do not have any witnesses, I can arrange them for you, see add-ons.
If I have a legals only marriage, can I have a larger wedding later?
Absolutely. Many couples complete their legal marriage privately, then hold a larger symbolic Commitment Ceremony or celebration later.
How many guests can attend?
If I perform a legals only at my home office, a handful of guests is recommended. Any other location, you can have as many as the venue allows.
Can I get married outdoors?
Yes you can. The venue is entirely your choice so long as it is safe for everyone and that there is a Plan B in place for inclement weather.
What are separate consent meetings?
The law surrounding real consent has changed recently and I am obliged to ensure each party is consenting to the marriage freely. To do this, I will need to speak to each of you privately for a few moments. There’s nothing to worry about. We can do this at our initial meeting. These are simple, quick and relaxed chats where I take each of you aside individually and confirm your identity and your free, informed consent to marry.
